Personal Green tips on what i do for a Greaner world

After watching the inconvenient truth by Al Gore, the way i see the planet has changed for good. now a days i see most things and ponder on how green can this be done.
i should confess that at times its too much of a pain to find the right mix between getting things done and finding better ways to do the same thing.

I my quest to 'be the change that i want to see' in being green , i have started inculcating some green measures personally. my thumb rule being that i will not let the greening process prevent me from achieving things.

  1. Switch off desktop at the end of the day - This seemed to be a trivial thing till i calculated how much electricity and hence money it takes to leave the machine running through the night. Apart from saving money and power it has helped my desktop work much faster and smoother. Thanks to the company that i work for, i have a LCD monitor yet i switch it off when i leave. In case you have a CRT monitor ( the big, fat, ugly ones) it is much important to shut it off as those monster suck more power(read money).
  2. Switch off the monitor at lunch and tea breaksThough this seems to sound like a fanatical move, even this small step counts. when we consider the combined benefits of more people dong this, these small things add up. -
  3. Use Less Paper - i use far lesser paper that i used to.
  4. Stay as close to the office as your budget allows and minimize commuting.
  5. Use group transport or car / bike pool where ever possible.
  6. combine errands into one trip to avoid multiple trips. i typically have a errand day that i plan and achive.
  7. Remove unused chargers and electrical electronic devices from the plug point.
